DPC01 - Drum Crusher
We designed and manufactured this special drum crusher unit to compress small plastic drums in Zone 1 hazardous areas. The unit is mobile and is powered by compressed air.
How the drum crusher works
- The unit is wheeled to the position where the drums need to be crushed. The wheels are then locked to stop the unit moving around.
- An airline is connected to the unit
- The operator lifts up the lid of the unit so that a drum can be churned into the crushing head. The unit cannot be operated with the lid raised
- The operator churns the drum into the crushing head
- The lid is lowered over the drum and crushing head
- The operator turns a lever to power in the crushing rollers to the drum. Once the lever is returned to the neutral position the rollers will open up
- The lid can be raised and the drum rotates so that the drum can be crushed from a different position if necessary.
The drum crusher was designed with an inside jaw spacing of 400mm allowing operators to load a 350mm diameter drum easily.
All elements of the unit were built to comply with the ATEX Regulations for operating in a Zone 1 hazardous area.
