On this page are some of the ingenious solutions that we have developed to solve manual handling problems with containers of liquids and powders.

Suitable for drum and barrel handling from 50 litres (10 gallon) to 200 litres (45 gallon), the patented stainless steel DTC01 Drum Trolley was recognized as a major design development in the reduction of industrial back injury from Manual Handling. STS won the Tomorrow’s World Inventors of the Year award in 2000, followed soon after by the Product Innovation Award at the SafetyExpo 2001.

There is no need to move the drum onto a footplate. Simply bring the trolley to the drum and locate the beak grip at the rim of the drum. The catch is fully adjustable up and down to suit different height drums and the catch has variable settings for all different drum types, for example, mousers, XL ring, plastic and open and closed top steel.  Once connected, push the footbar forwards and pull on the handles to lift the drum off the floor. The drum is lifted vertically and can be pushed along with the minimum of effort and without the operator taking the weight of the load against the body.

The drum trolley can load 200 litre drums onto the footplate of the DCR01 or DCR02 cradles.

The Dispensing Cradle and Rollover Cradle allow operators to rotate 200 litre / 45 gallon drums and barrels from the vertical into the horizontal with a safe and easy manoeuvre to allow dispensing or picking off into racking. Manufactured wholly in stainless steel, and particularly suitable for the food industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, there is an option to make the units in an ATEX Compliant format.

STS have answered requests for a similarly effective Cylinder Trolley with their CTS01, which solves all the problems associated with the old 2 and 4 wheel cylinder trolleys. It allows the operator to effortlessly move gas cylinders and canisters around the workplace as well as negotiating single steps and lips within handling regulations. The operator simply pushes the cylinder forward slightly, and pushes the trolley to the cylinder. The operator then pulls back on the cylinder until the trolley is on all 4 wheels. The effort required to do this is only 15kg. The operator can then fix the safety chain around the cylinder and the trolley can then be wheeled around.
It has been well received in medical and university laboratories, where safe handling of gas and high pressure cylinders is desired.
