BNFL Ingot Rotator
This special unit was built to handle 600 kg ingots of radioactive glass. The unit had to be able to pick up the ingots vertically then rotate them through 180 degrees for sampling. Once this had been done the ingot would be laid in a stainless cradle that we also designed and manufactured. The unit is mounted on a self-contained electric hydraulic lift unit with a SWL of 1,000kg. The Ingots were rotated manually by a high capacity double gearbox arrangement, which gave precise and easy rotation. |
