Fire Suppression Cylinder Lifting Equipment
A custom-built cylinder handler enhances safety and efficiency for a Saudi fire protection company.
A leading provider of fire suppression systems in Saudi Arabia, approached STS with a requirement to handle large, heavy gas cylinders safely. The cylinders, integral to their fire protection solutions, posed a significant manual handling risk due to their weight and bulk. Without the right equipment, their team faced the threat of workplace injury and operational inefficiencies.
With over 25 years of experience designing high-specification handling equipment, STS engineered a fully powered, custom-built cylinder lifting solution – the STE05-CLH01-SP. This electrically driven unit was designed to clamp, lift, and transport cylinders weighing up to 300kg (660lb), eliminating the need for manual handling.

Bespoke Design
What made this project particularly bespoke was the design of the hydraulic clamping system. The clamps were engineered to accommodate a wide range of cylinder sizes, from 250mm to 420mm (9.8" to 16.5") in diameter, ensuring flexibility across different fire suppression applications.
The electric drive system not only made manoeuvring effortless but also significantly sped up the entire handling process. By removing manual input, the unit increased operational throughput while protecting workers from strain and injury.

This project is a strong example of how STS’s expertise in cylinder lifting equipment, gas bottle trolleys, and handling equipment delivers meaningful improvements to global clients. Engineered in the UK and built to last, our equipment continues to set the standard for safety, efficiency and innovation worldwide. Explore our complete range of gas bottle trolleys and lifters.
